Creative Catering on Valentine’s Day

Making Valentine’s Day special for your wife will truly let her know you care and that she is special to you.  If your husband or wife usually cooks dinner, why not turn the tables and make them a beautiful dinner for two.  While you can organise a professional caterer or go to a local restaurant, if you have done this in recent previous years why not shake things up a little?

If you don’t usually make dinner, don’t worry as your partner will already know this and appreciate the effort you have made.  Work with your abilities, and shop accordingly.  For those of you who plan to make it through dinner, a small starter

For those who want a romantic end to Valentine’s, here is a great tip.  My partner once made me a tiered chocolate cake for Valentine’s Day decorated with Roses and Baby’s Breath, and it really took my breath away.  Not much was eaten than night, however I still remember the surprise to this day and I enjoyed the cake over several days.

While this is not dinner, some couples may only get to champagne and chocolate before retiring for the night.  If this is your plan do remember to prepare an Anti-Pasto platter to eat later. 

Making a three course dinner sounds exciting doesn’t it!  Maybe so for some, however if you have limited experience in the kitchen don’t be concerned.

Ask your butcher and local fruit and vegetable supplier for ideas on simple but tasty recipes.  Planning ahead will allow you to do some preparation in advance.  A beautiful light prawn or Cajun chicken salad with dressing is a perfect way to start.  Follow with a main course of their favourite meat or vegetable; remember it doesn’t need to be too big.  To complete the meal, follow with a sweet dish that you have made or bought especially for the night.  A dinner like this will mean only cooking for a short period of time, and assembling the rest.
