Wedding Catering Guide

Wedding catering can be simple, but unfortunately for most people it’s not. It’s usually complicated because you have certain ideals that you want included, but either you don’t have the budget to do it; or the catering company you’re speaking with doesn’t offer it.

Finding a catering company is not the problem. They’re all over the place; at least they’re advertising it. You need to learn whether or not they’re full service caterers with everything to offer or if they are simple the food caterer. The actual difference with different companies is local companies grew up from small mom and pop operations, unless of course it’s a major hotel chain or club.

As you know, the wedding catering has to meet the minimum expectations. Common sense, right? Wrong. A lot of people don’t bother to taste the food which is a big mistake. Sample whatever you can before hiring any business. It goes without saying, cuisine that looks scrumptious on a menu but tastes terrible during the event will make a bad impression with the guests.

Do you know that many caterers only provide food service? They might back that up with bar service, too, but on the most part, they are chefs. The reason these guys exist is because they saw the lack of something when they were working for a large operation that does weddings and receptions.

Some small caterers could have everything on site, too. You just don’t know until you speak with them. Don’t be surprised if the owner answers the phone and if they invite you over to taste some samples and meet the chef. It’s common. It’s how they differentiate themselves from other catering companies.

Larger venues lie wedding halls and major hotels without a doubt have everything you could ever want or need. But, what comes along with this service is a higher price tag and another wedding in the next room to yours. A little impersonal but still it’s convenient, something worth considering. Just go take a look and ask to take a look a real event that’s going on in one of the halls where wedding receptions take place. This way, you’ll get a feeling for what it’s like.

Since you’re already searching for information and advice, mine is to get started by contacting a handful of companies large and small. Next, meet them and taste the food, not to mention seeing if your personalities match. Working with someone who works differently than you can be a real pain in the neck. Find someone similar in personality and that you can get a long with well. It will make a big difference in the end.

I wish I could say that wedding catering is as simple as making one phone call. It isn’t. You’ll have to make a bunch of them to find what you’re looking for. I think deep down inside you know that, but wish otherwise. This is just the way business goes, wedding catering included.

With wedding catering the food is most important. You can have an ok location if you’re trying to save money, but cheap food doesn’t go over well at a wedding reception. Will make top quality food at reasonable rates. Catering Houston, 5711 Morningside Drive, Houston, TX 77030, (832) 772-7975.
