Regional hotels are still proving popular, with two selling after strong bidding at auction. The freehold of the Mundubbera Hotel went under the hammer for $1.5 million, while the Railway Hotel in Herbert St, Allora sold for $1.365m. Brad Lipp, of Ray White Hotels and Leisure, said both properties drew strong interest and sold to separate Queensland-based buyers. Mundubbera. about 390km northwest of Brisbane. is on the Burnett River. The hotel at 20 Lyons St, is on the banks of the river. Mr Lipp believes the Mundubbera Hotel is appealing because it has 18 gaming machines and future redevelopment potential. The site has two-street access, council approval for a liquor barn and there was the potential to reopen the restaurant. There are 10 hotel rooms which are not being used, a three-bedroom manager’s residence and three separate bars. The Courier Mail, November 9.
